Bra-care Essentials

Every woman dislikes laundry day…it seems to drag on forever, and with delicates like bras; laundry can become a royal pain! We know that comfortable solutions make life much easier and more enjoyable. So we put together the basics of caring for your delicate items, so you can quickly and easily get laundry day over with!

Close the clasps before washing. Fasten the clasps to the hooks to prevent your bras from snagging other clothing or their own fabric. Snagging can rip and stretch the fabric of your bra, or other items in the load. Snagging also can stretch your bra beyond belief if you are washing it in a load with other clothing like shirts. Using a lingerie bag can also help to protect your delicate items.

Do not bleach bras! If for some reason, you think you need to bleach your bras, use non-chlorine bleach. Bleach ruins many synthetic materials, like the spandex in your bras. Over time, if you bleach your bras, they will lose their elasticity and become saggy and baggy…not what you want from a bra!

Invest in more bras. Having a good selection of bras is important. It not only allows you to choose the right bra for the occasion, it also means you’ll have to wash them less often. Make sure all of the bras in your selection are in good shape, discard any that show signs of wear or no longer fit properly. Wash your bras in rotation so that you will always have some available to use while the others are being washed.

Hand-wash or use the delicate cycle. Hand washing bras doesn’t have to take a long time. When you are doing laundry separate the bras from the rest of the load and fill a sink with warm water and a gentle detergent. Let your bras soak till the water becomes cool. Finish washing them with a gentle massage and swishing. Don’t twist or wring them! Rinse with cold water, and air-dry.

Air-dry your bras. Don’t hang them from one strap or bunch them up. Either lay them on a towel or hang over a rack. Make sure any padded cups are re-shaped so they dry properly and in the right shape. Using the dryer damages synthetic fabrics and elastics so taking the time to air-dry your bras will not only protect them, it will save you money in the long run.
