An easy craft for a rainy day!

An easy craft for a rainy day!

What is there to do on a weekend day when the weather isn’t budging? After playing hide and seek for a couple of hours and enjoying the latest cartoons, your kids will need something to keep them busy! Crafting is a great way to engage creativity and to decorate your living space with some home made love. Here are a couple of ideas to fetch from, to create some easy valentine’s day crafts. These ideas require basic supplies that are available at Crites & Riddell, your supplies provider.

Yearn Heart

If you have any leftover yearn lying around, this craft is perfect to incorporate it. Make a heart-shaped frame with thick paper or cart board to start. Then, stick one end of the yearn in the middle of the heart template. Then, simply wrap the yearn around the piece of paper until the heart is fully covered. This creates a colorful little decoration that can be hung or added to your centre piece!

Heart Sun-Catcher

To make the perfect sun-catcher, use a clear sheet protector. Cut the seam of the plastic creating two separate sheets. Then make squares out of tissue paper with all sorts of colors or stick to the red, pink and white. Spread Mod Podge to the clear sheet with a brush. Then have your kids stick the tissue paper to the sheet. When the sheet is covered, let it dry completely. Then, bend the protector in half and create a nice symmetric heart. The tissue paper will peel off the plastic protector creating a great sun-catcher that can be hung in the window!

Valentine’s Cards

Valentine’s cards are much more personal if they are hand-crafted! All you need is colored paper, scissors and crayons. Ideas are limitless! You can use famous love quotes or simply use last minute printable cards that you’ll further personalize with some finger painting!

Crafting is a great way to spend quality time at home with your family. Valentine’s day is an occasion to share love to the people surrounding you. Why not share these feelings with a crafted gift!
