How to mix the perfect summer cocktail!

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you know that summer is upon us and with the recent heat waves, keeping cool has become a necessity!

Fortunately, there are many ways to refresh yourself during a hot summer day, but not everyone has access to air conditioning or a pool. However, everybody has access to a fridge, glasses and ice cubes, so stirring up a tasty summer cocktail is something that we can all enjoy!

Throw in some fruit:

Creating a cocktail isn’t chemistry, all you have to do is throw in ingredients that you like and that will taste good together. One good tip to remember however is to add fruit whenever possible. You can add some lemon and orange slices to your favorite sangria or, squeeze of bit of lime juice in your rum and coke. Try to add some fresh summer fruits like strawberries or citrus fruits to your favorite drink and you will experience a new burst of flavor you might not have gotten otherwise!

It’s not rocket science:

If you’ve browsed a recipe book of cocktails before, you know that the best tasting cocktails are composed of just a few ingredients, therefore, if you are looking to create something new and tasty, you don’t have to throw everything drink you own into one big punch bowl. Stick with your favorites and see what happens from there. Some fruity liquor goes great with light tasting sodas. If you’re not looking for something with alcohol in it, mix and match fruit juices and nectars to see what kind of brew you can come up with! Half the fun of coming up with a cocktail is tasting you concoctions even if some things won’t be as tasty as you might have expected!

Next time you host a barbeque, serve up some of your favorite appetizers on a wood cutting board to your guest and pour in their glasses your original, sensational cocktail. Every one of your guests will demand the recipe for this drink and you will be proud to say: “I’m the one who invented it”.
