Make the most of what you got

Make the most of what you got

Time is gentler on men than it is on women. Just look at Hollywood, the older male celebrities are deemed to be “dignified » and I bet that most of them don’t have to undergo plastic surgery in order to retain their youthful looks. Sadly, for most women, aging is something that is hard to accept. Being “passed your prime” as some people might point out can be depressing.

But it doesn’t have to be.

Many older women look fabulous, and they didn’t even have to go under the knife in order to retain some of their youthful looks. I for one would like to live out the rest of my days without having to result to Botox, facelifts or liposuction….and it is possible, there are some things we can do every day in order to feel better about ourselves, no matter how old we are.

1-Start with your head
When it comes to hair, women posses some advantages that men do not. We can color and style our hair as many times as we want without looking weird or giving the impression that we want to look 10 years younger. The key to a good hair color is to find one that is a perfect match for your skin tone. If you’re fair skinned, don’t go for something that is too flashy, like a bold bright red. On the other hand, if your complexion is more tanned, don’t go for too dark, but don’t choose a color that is too light either. Trust your hair dresser, he or she is your best companion when it comes to choosing a do that is right for you.

2-Take care of your skin
Skin care should begin as early as the twenties. The sun, pollution and other factors can ravage skin and make it look prematurely old. It is true that some moisturizers can be expensive, but some plain old over the counter ones can do the job as well. What is important is to protect your skin from the sun during the day and rejuvenate it at night. Use a skin moisturizer with a sun protection during the day and a light moisturizer at night. Your skin will look and feel younger in no time.

3-Don’t “paint on” your face
Let’s be honest, a lot of older women abuse their makeup. They wear colors that are too bright and flashy along with blushes that looks like it was popular in the 1950s. Nowadays, when it comes to makeup for both young and older women, light is the way to go. Just a little bit of mascara, eyeliner and a light lipstick or gloss is all you need in order to look fabulous in no time flat.

If you still feel insecure about your looks, you can always try to wear a body shaper under your clothes. Body shapers are a woman’s best friend when it comes to “keeping everything in place”. You’ll look like years younger without having to diet or even hit the gym!
