Tips for Dressing Five Pounds Slimmer

Whether you’re looking to lose weight or just want to look your best, these tips will help you look 5 pounds slimmer without hitting the gym!

The most important of all the tips is WEAR THE RIGHT SIZE clothes. Wearing oversize clothes does not fool anyone, and they can actually often make you look bigger – a big DON’T! The idea is to find clothes that just “skim” the body but aren’t too tight. This will accentuate your curves without boxing you in.

Dressing in proportion is also a definite DO. Make sure you balance your upper and lower body. The best way to do this is by accentuating your smallest part and then pairing your more generously cut pieces with a snugger piece. For example, try a wide leg pant with a fitted shirt or a miniskirt with a longer top.

Choosing the right bottoms can definitely help slim you down. When choosing jeans, try a dark wash with either a straight or boot cut. A flared leg is good; just don’t go too wide at the bottom – that can tend to make your legs look wider. When selecting dressier pants, try flat-front styles (no pleats!), a wider waistband (covers a bit of the tummy bulge) and a little bit of stretch. Like with the jeans, a flared leg can help make your hips look slimmer.

Use interesting necklines, accessories and a little skin to attract attention away from bulges. V neck tops are a great way to show off your neck and décolleté. Try a long cardigan to lengthen the torso (not to mention to hide your hips, booty and possibly some love handles!). The idea is to accentuate your best features and body parts – in other words, you want to draw attention to the good parts and camouflage the not so great parts.

And last, but not least, when wearing a skirt or dress, try a nude heel. Flesh-colored pumps or sandals will make your legs look longer and won’t cut your silhouette. And they’re perfectly in fashion for the summer!
